Cut off your hair? Why not?…!

Cutting off your hair?! Short haircut

“I’d love to try short hair for a change… but I don’t think it would suit me.”
Does that sound familiar? You’re not alone. Few beauty topics spark as much debate, anxiety, and myth-making as the short haircut. Your hairdresser faces a dilemma, too: the desire for a change is there—but, unfortunately, the courage often isn’t. And it’s not the courage to get the haircut itself, but the courage to show your face!

After all, the real question isn’t “Do short hairstyles suit me?” but rather: “Which short haircut suits me?” And: “Do I want to put myself out there?” After all, a short haircut reveals everything—a large nose, a strong chin, big ears.

Is long hair really always the safe choice?

No! Many women stick with long hair for decades. Presumably not because they truly love it, but because they believe they have to.

“I look older with short hair.”
“My husband likes long hair.”
“I don’t have the face for it.”
“I’ll regret it later.”

You hear these kinds of thoughts regularly in the salon. Does the hairdresser always come right out and say what he really thinks? He should—for the client’s sake.

Long hair isn’t automatically the better hairstyle. It can visually drag the face down, make fine hair look even thinner, and sometimes even make you look older. And let’s be honest: long hair takes time, money, and patience. High-quality care products, deep conditioning treatments, trims, blow-drying, styling—the costs add up faster than you’d think. Long hair is beautiful when it truly suits the person, their hair quality, and their lifestyle.

When it comes to short haircuts, face shape is key!

A good short haircut doesn’t start with trends, but with a look at the face. Our face shape determines which lines, volumes, and proportions appear particularly harmonious.

The oval face

Congratulations! Almost anything works here! Whether it’s a pixie, a bob, or a sassy short cut, the oval face is considered particularly versatile. It’s the perfect canvas for experimentation.

The round face

Many people think short hair makes the face look even rounder. That’s not true. It all comes down to the cut. Longer sections on the crown, asymmetrical shapes, or a side part create a visual elongating effect and add a sense of lightness.

The angular face

Strong jawlines look particularly attractive when paired with soft contours. Textured short haircuts or wispy bangs soften the lines and enhance one’s overall look.

The heart-shaped face

A broader forehead and a narrower chin benefit from volume in the lower section. A soft bob or a layered short haircut creates balance.

The elongated face

It is perfectly fine to introduce some width here. Bangs, loose waves, or added volume at the sides create a more harmonious look for the face.

Short hair reveals personality.

A short haircut hides nothing. It reveals your face, your expressions, and your personality.

That is precisely why women with short hair often appear confident, modern, and authentic. Not because short hair automatically makes you bold, but because it places the person at the center of attention.

And no: femininity doesn’t depend on 50 centimeters of hair.

It’s in your aura.
In your smile.
In your posture.
And sometimes, it’s simply in a really great pixie cut.

The most important rule is: The cut has to suit you.

Not every woman needs an ultra-short buzz cut. Not everyone loves a pixie. Maybe a short bob is exactly your thing. Maybe a soft crop. Maybe just ten centimeters less.

A good hairdresser doesn’t just cut a trendy style; they analyze your face shape, hair texture, growth patterns, styling habits, and personality. That process creates a hairstyle that doesn’t just look good on Instagram but actually works in real life, every single morning. Hair grows back—that’s not just a platitude, it’s a fact. A far more interesting question is: How much longer do you want to hold onto a hairstyle you wear simply out of habit? Sometimes, change begins with a decision involving just a few centimeters. And sometimes, the woman looking back at you from the mirror is the real you—for the first time in years. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it.

So: Cut the hair off?

Why not…!

The Big Sweat! – How Your Hair Can Survive the Summer

Summer Hair Care

Summer, sunshine, 32 degrees in the shade—and just from your morning walk to the bathroom, your hairstyle looks like it’s just run a half-marathon.

You try everything to keep your cool: fans, ice, hand-held fans, and—ideally—a trip to the outdoor pool. Yet, for many, the summer routine still involves greasy roots, dry ends, frizz, and the damaging effects of chlorine. But don’t worry: with the right care, your hair can stay happy and healthy, even in tropical temperatures.

Do you have to wash your hair every day now?

The short answer: No.

The slightly longer version: You may—but you don’t have to.

Sweat itself doesn’t make your hair greasy. However, it mixes with the scalp’s natural sebum, causing the roots to look stringy more quickly. If you sweat heavily or exercise a lot, you can certainly wash your hair more often, but you should use a mild shampoo.

Washing your hair daily is perfectly fine for many scalp types, provided you use a gentle shampoo and your scalp does not become irritated. Simply wash the roots or rinse your hair with plain water in between washes to prevent the lengths from drying out.

Dry shampoo – your summer hero or just hot air?

Dry shampoo is a quick lifesaver in front of the mirror. It absorbs excess sebum and adds volume. However, what it cannot do is remove sweat.

If your hairline is really sweaty, the dry shampoo mixes with the moisture and can quickly create a somewhat… well… interesting look. The result often looks more like “Elsa meets festival” than freshly washed hair.

The better alternatives:

  • Briefly blow-dry the roots of your hair (preferably with cool air).
  • Gently press a towel or microfiber cloth onto the scalp.
  • If you like, you can use a refreshing scalp tonic.
  • Then, if necessary, apply a little dry shampoo to the roots, which should already be dry.

This way, the hairstyle stays much fresher.

Outdoor pools, swimming pools, and the like – chlorine shows no mercy.

Taking a dip in cool water cools you down—but it puts your hair under stress!

Chlorinated water can dry out the hair structure and take a toll on hair, especially blonde or color-treated hair. Blondes are also familiar with a common summer issue: the unwanted green tint. Incidentally, the culprit isn’t the chlorine itself, but rather metals like copper in the water that build up on the hair.

Here’s how to protect your hair:

  • Dampen your hair with fresh water before swimming. It sounds odd, but it works: the hair soaks up the clean water first, meaning it absorbs less chlorinated water.
  • If you swim regularly, you can also apply some leave-in conditioner or hair oil to the lengths of your hair.
  • It is best to tie back long hair or wear a swimming cap (yes, it might not be the most fashionable accessory—but it’s effective!).
  • After swimming, rinse your hair thoroughly with clear water as soon as possible.
  • Once a week, a deep-cleansing shampoo helps remove residue from chlorine, salt, and styling products. Afterwards, be sure to use a rich conditioner or mask.

Blow-drying – yes or no?

In summer, it’s easy to think: “Oh, the air is warm—my hair will dry on its own.”

True. However, the scalp often stays damp for longer in the process—and neither a sensitive scalp nor your hairstyle particularly appreciates that. Moisture at the roots can also cause the hair to go flat more quickly.

Therefore, the following applies:

  • If you have time, you can let your hair air-dry a little first.
  • Then, briefly dry the roots with cool or lukewarm air from a hairdryer.
  • It is better to avoid the highest heat settings—after all, the sun already provides plenty of heat on its own.

Summer care: Less is often more.

Especially in summer, hair needs moisture and protection above all else.

A few simple habits can make a big difference:

  • Use moisturizing conditioners.
  • Treat yourself to a hair mask once a week.
  • Use UV protection for your hair, especially if it is color-treated.
  • Regularly treat the ends with a light hair oil.
  • Avoid tight hairstyles when your hair is wet – it is particularly fragile then.

The good news: You don’t need to wash your hair completely every day or spray on liters of dry shampoo. With a mild shampoo, some moisturizing care, a smart approach to chlorinated water, and a dose of composure, your hair will make it through even the hottest days.

And if a strand of hair does decide to do its own thing: simply claim it’s the new “Tropical Volume Look.” That sounds a lot more glamorous than “I just walked to the ice cream parlor for five minutes.”

COLOR CORRECTION – what you want actually doesn’t matter a damn!

Color Correction

Hold on a minute! Whaaaat? The customer is king… right?

Before you get indignant and start searching online for “How do I escape my hairdresser?”, one thing needs to be made clear: When people think of color corrections, they often imagine something like, “Oh, just look at these—the Pinterest photos are so pretty! Give me beige-blonde. Thanks!”—without the faintest clue about the chaos unfolding on their own heads.

You’ve probably guessed it: that’s not how it works! Color correction is a blend of hair science and detective work that really puts your professional to the test. Before they can tackle your target look, they have to dive deep into the history of your hair. They go on a hunt for clues, acting like a forensic expert for hair color.

What was on it?

Color Correction
Color Correction

What color was used previously? Was it a permanent dye or just a semi-permanent tint? And what about that last “experiment” from the bathroom lab—do I see a packet of “Shocking Blue” left over from some past Carnival escapade? All neatly distributed along the lengths, creating a real pop of color.

What was underneath?

We aren’t talking about lingerie here, but rather old bleach jobs, highlights from way back—even before your last vacation—and that spontaneous “red phase” you’d almost forgotten about; we’re talking disastrous balayage and—oops—was there a lightening job somewhere along the line? After all, a color correction doesn’t just become necessary out of the blue…

Honesty saves hair.

“I just used a semi-permanent tint.” That’s often how it starts. Twenty minutes into the salon consultation, the professional realizes: it was actually four semi-permanent tints, two permanent colors, and a TikTok hack involving kitchen ingredients.
There is one small but important rule: honesty is nothing to be embarrassed about—and it’s not a confession. It simply helps ensure you don’t accidentally send your hair spiraling into a black hole of hair disaster!

No wild hair fails

Everyone’s heard them: horror stories about hair color gone wrong or bizarre hair rescue missions. Have you ever shown up to work with orange streaks because that drugstore bleach didn’t quite work its magic as planned? Did someone ask, “I hope that’s not the new summer trend”? We’ve all heard tales that put even the most shocking reality TV moments to shame! Don’t let your color correction end like a bad crime thriller—with the death of your hair.

Color correction is not magic.

At the end of the day, color correction isn’t magic. It’s a blend of detective work, chemistry class, and a dash of psychology. Sometimes it’s even a minor miracle—though rarely one achieved in a single session. And if you don’t want to be faced with a pair of scissors after four weeks, you have to trust your hairdresser and accept that not every desired color is achievable following the preceding color saga.

So, the next time you’re dreaming of a specific hair color, remember: hairstylists love being your heroes! But that only works if you’re honest with them about your hair history—that way, they’ll have fun and plenty of patience!

“Why does everyone look the same? – Time for some awesome hair!” 🤔✂️

“Why does everyone look the same? – Time for some awesome hair!”

You’re strolling through the city and feel like you’re walking in an endless loop. Same hair, same color, same waves, the same bangs—the city is a giant hair-cloning lab! 😅 If you didn’t know better, you’d think a horde of well-coiffed twins was walking through the pedestrian zone.

It’s crazy, isn’t it? You might think we live in a world ruled by a mandate for a uniform look. But before anyone shouts, “But long hair is feminine!” or whispers, “Short hair is masculine!”—STOP! These “rules” are nothing more than outdated notions that have been elevated to the status of hair laws over the years.

The question of beauty – to each their own!

The hairdresser is actually interested in only one question: “Do you like what you see in the mirror?”

BUT: It doesn’t matter what your best friend, your mom, or an Instagram influencer has to say about it. And it certainly doesn’t matter what the people who always have something to complain about think—after all, they usually don’t even know how a haircut works!

Many people opt for “safe” hairstyles just to avoid standing out. But let’s be honest: isn’t that a bit boring? The world needs more individuality, more character, and definitely more colorful hair! Who says a bold color automatically means you’re crazy? Oh, and by the way—gray doesn’t mean old; it is the color of wisdom and of cool (sometimes older) people who love themselves and their natural beauty—and aren’t afraid to show it!

Character Instead of Clones

The truth is: trends come and go like yesterday’s fashion. One year, pixie cuts are all the rage; the next, everyone is sporting a long bob. But the real question is: what suits your face, your life, and your personality? If a funky hairstyle makes you feel good, why not? Hit the streets and show the world!

Imagine if everyone did only what was “in”—it would be like a giant, colorless hamster wheel. And let’s be honest: haven’t you ever decided against a hairstyle just because others said, “You can’t do that!”? We simply tend to let ourselves be influenced by social conventions! Yet, standing out is far more exciting.

Time for a hair revolution!

So, hair lovers—it’s time for amazing hair! Whether you’re after a bold color, a sassy cut, or just a bit more personality, go out there and make it happen! Let your hair shine exactly the way you want it to. After all, your hair shouldn’t just look good—it should reflect the unique you! Character always looks good, and it’s sexy, too.

If you find yourself wondering, “Do I want to look like everyone else?”, simply switch to a “thumbs up for individuality” mindset. It’s time to pick up the brushes and scissors and leave the cookie-cutter look behind. You aren’t just someone who wears hair—you’re a unique individual!
